| In 2007, FDA implemented a new food safety strategy named the U.S. Food Protection Plan that addresses both food safety and food defense for domestic and imported products. The Food Protection Plan operates under a set of integrated strategies including focusing on risks over a product’s life cycle from production to consumption，targeting resources to achieve maximum risk reduction, addressing both unintentional and deliberate contamination, and using science and modern technology systems. |
