| The National Institutes of Health (NIH), the only state level biomedical research centers in U.S., manages the larger portion of federal R&D investment second only to the Department of Defense. The paper describes and analyzes the R&D investment, research funding and development of NIH in order to understand the overall level and key direction of U.S. biomedical research. |
