| This article presents the newest statistics data of the gross expenditure on R&D (GERD) of the United States. After the financial crisis, U.S. GERD has been stable in general but slided a little in its proportion to GDP. This article further introduces the characteristics and changes of U.S. GERD in terms of source of funds and sector of performance, as well as the GERD distribution on the basic research, applied research and production development. The US’ expenditure on R&D is trapped by its weak economic recovery. |
