| With the rocketing development of electronic information technology， secure and efficient communica-tion has attracted increasing attention. As a new hotspot in present communication field， quantum communication has been causing extensive concern in the world by absolute security， large ICT capacity， ultra-high communica-tion rate， long distance transmission and high information efficiency. The paper outlines the characteristics and applications of quantum communication， and traces its origin， introduces the situation of research and development of quantum communication in America， Japan and Europe， and makes prospects for the future of the quantum communication in the world. |
